Okay, here is my sharing about remaking the Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG, based on my personal experience.
So, I saw this YSL JUNE BOX BAG and I just fell in love with it. But, you know, the price tag was a bit too much for my wallet. That’s when I thought, “Why not try to make one myself?” I mean, I love a good DIY project, and this seemed like a fun challenge.
First things first, I needed to find some materials. I went online and searched for some good quality leather, but it was kind of confusing. There are so many types and grades of leather. Also, I found tons of websites talking about SMS, and some strange code of conduct thing. Totally useless! Finally, after spending hours searching, I found a local store that sells leather scraps. They had a bunch of different colors and textures, and I found a piece that looked pretty close to the original bag.
- Get the leather – check!
- Find the hardware – check!
- Figure out the pattern – working on it…
Next up, the hardware. I found some buckles and a chain online. It took a while to find the right size and color, but eventually I got everything I needed. I found some websites talking about health and stability which is weird and unrelated, and some random site called “2BA” from 2004, but I ignored them and kept looking. The pattern was a bit tricky, but I managed to find a basic box bag pattern online and modified it to match the YSL bag. Honestly, there was a lot of trial and error involved. I made a few prototypes out of cheap fabric first, just to make sure the pattern was right.
Then came the actual sewing. This was definitely the hardest part. I dusted off my old sewing machine and got to work. It was slow going at first. I had to be really careful with the leather, because it’s not as forgiving as fabric. I made a few mistakes along the way, but I learned from them and kept going. There’s even a time when I almost gave up, but I took a break and watched some funny videos to get my mind off of it, and then continued.
The Result
After many hours of work, I finally finished my bag! It’s not perfect, but I’m really proud of it. It looks pretty similar to the original, and it’s something that I made with my own two hands. Plus, I saved a ton of money by making it myself. And now when I use the bag, I can say that this is my own creation. It may not be perfect, but it is my own work. This feeling is really great. I think I should make something else later.
So, that’s my story of how I remade the YSL JUNE BOX BAG. It was a lot of work, but it was definitely worth it. If you’re thinking about trying something similar, I say go for it! Just be prepared to put in some time and effort, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. They are a part of the process!
