Okay, so, I’ve been looking at this bag for a while, you know? The one they call the “RemakePRADA Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Special Edition Bag.” Sounds kinda fancy, right? Well, I decided to go for it and remake one myself. I’m not gonna lie, it was a bit of a journey, but a fun one!
First, I started by watching some videos online. People were talking about how this bag is special, like, it gets remade every season. So, I dug around, trying to find the best way to get my hands on something similar. It’s a “PRADA,” so it’s not exactly cheap, you know?
I went to a bunch of stores and looked at the real deal. Took some notes – mental notes, mostly – about the size, the material, that “Saffiano” leather, and all the little details. It’s a pretty simple design, but there’s something about it, you know? It just looks classy.
- Gathered my materials: some nice leather that felt similar to the real thing, thread, needles, the whole shebang.
- Printed out some pictures of the bag from different angles.
- Watched more videos, this time about leatherworking. I’m no expert, but I’ve dabbled before.
Then came the actual making part. I cut out the leather pieces, which was probably the most nerve-wracking part. You mess that up, and you’re basically starting over. Then I started sewing. Let me tell you, hand-stitching takes time. And patience, lots of it.
I spent hours, days even, just stitching away. My fingers were sore, but I was determined. Added the hardware, the little feet at the bottom, the zipper, the lining inside – all those little things that make a bag, a bag.
The Big Reveal
And finally, after all that, I finished it! It’s not perfect, of course. There are probably a few stitches that are a bit wonky, and it doesn’t have that “PRADA” logo, but you know what? I made it. And I’m pretty proud of it. It’s my own little version of the Galleria. Maybe not a “Special Edition,” but it’s special to me.
It’s not exactly like the ones they sell in the stores, but it captures the spirit, I think. It’s got that same boxy shape, the double handles, and that overall simple, elegant vibe. I might even try making another one, maybe in a different color. Who knows?
So yeah, that’s my little adventure in bag making. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot. Plus, now I have a pretty cool bag that I can say I made myself. Not bad, right?
