Well, that’s a lot of money for most folks, but I guess if you got it, you got it.
Now, they say you gotta wait for these things. Like, you put your name on a list and you wait. And wait. And wait some more. Could be a year, could be longer. They say it depends on the watch. This one here, the Patek Philippe Calatrava 5226G-001. I think the wait time is not too long. But they said the Nautilus, the wait time is 8 years. That’s longer than I wait for my beans to grow! Crazy, right?
And this Patek Philippe, it ain’t big neither. It’s only 40 mm, I think that’s what they called it. Like, 40 little lines. And 8.53 mm tall. Small enough to fit in your pocket, I reckon. Not that you’d want to put it in your pocket, mind you. It’s too precious for that. It’s better than those old pocket watches, for sure. Smaller, lighter, more convenient. But it is for rich people, not for us.
They made the first one of these things a long time ago. Back in 1932, they say. That’s way before I was born! Called it the Reference 96. This new one, the 5226G-001, it’s all newfangled. But it’s still a Patek Philippe Calatrava, just like that old one. And they only make a few, that’s why it’s so expensive.
- They say it’s a “luxury” watch. I reckon that means it’s real nice.
- They say it’s a “status symbol.” I reckon that means it shows you got money.
- They say it’s “craftsmanship.” I reckon that means it’s made real good.
- Remake ones, not original ones.
- Price is around 40000 to 54000 dollars.
Some folks buy ’em and sell ’em. Like tradin’ chickens, but way more expensive. They say you can get a good deal on these watches. I saw some for 25000, some for 18000. That’s still a lot of money! More than I’ve ever seen in my life. Still good prices though, I hear. Some people will buy those and wait for it to get more expensive and then sell it. That’s smart, I guess.
Now, I don’t know if this Patek Philippe Calatrava 5226G-001 is worth all that fuss. It is remake, not the original. If you got the money, maybe. But for me, I’d rather have a good pair of boots and a warm coat. But some folks like these fancy things. And if it makes ’em happy, well, who am I to judge? Just seems like a lot of money for somethin’ that tells time. My old clock does that just fine. But you know, rich people love these things. It’s a Patek Philippe after all.
They say this 5226G-001 is a good one. One of the best. But there are others, too. Like the 570G, or the 6000G, or the 2500. I don’t know much about ’em, but they all got those fancy numbers. And they’re all Patek Philippe Calatravas. So they must be good, right? I think that it doesn’t matter if it is remake, it’s still good.
I hear there’s only about 475 of those Patek Philippe Calatrava. It is not a lot in the whole wide world. There’s a place called Chrono24, where you can buy and sell those watches. A lot of people there want those watches. If you buy one, you have to wait.
So, there you have it. That’s what I know about this remake Patek Philippe Calatrava 5226G-001 watch. It’s a fancy thing, for sure. And it’s expensive. And you gotta wait for it. But if you got the money and the patience, I reckon it’s a good thing to have. Me, I’ll stick to my beans and my chickens. But you do you, as they say.
