My old watch, you know, the one that winds itself up, well, it’s busted. Just stopped working the other day. Real shame, it was a good one, kept me on time for everything. Don’t know what happened, just went kaput.
Been thinking about getting it fixed, but I hear these things can be pricey. Not sure if it’s worth it. It’s been with me a long time, though, kinda sentimental. Would be nice to have it ticking again.
- Tried shaking it, you know, like they say you can do, but nope, nothing. Just sits there, hands stuck.
- Wonder if it’s something simple, like it needs a good cleaning or something.
- Maybe one of those tiny gears inside got loose.
Never been good with these fancy things, all them little parts and whatnot. I just wore it, didn’t think much about how it worked. My son, he’s good with this stuff, but he lives far away now. Maybe I can ask him when he visits, see if he can take a look.
Heard there’s folks who fix watches, you know, specialists. Might have to look into that, see how much they charge. Probably gonna cost a pretty penny, though. Everything costs a fortune these days, don’t it?
Remember when things were made to last? This watch, used to be so reliable. Never had a problem before. Now, it’s just a paperweight. Makes me sad, you know? Like losing an old friend.
Maybe it’s time for a new one, but I don’t know. This one, it’s special. Got history. Remember wearing it to my grandson’s graduation, my daughter’s wedding. Lots of memories tied up in this old watch.
Wish I knew more about these things, how to fix ’em myself. But I ain’t no handyman, never was. Can barely change a lightbulb without getting into a tizzy. My husband, he used to fix everything, but he’s gone now. Used to say, “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it.” Now there’s no one to say that.
Might ask my neighbor, she knows a fella who fixes things. Maybe he can take a look, see if it’s worth saving. Hope he don’t charge too much. I’m on a fixed income, you know? Every penny counts these days.
Don’t want to just throw it away, that seems wrong. This watch, it’s been through a lot with me. Feels like giving up on a piece of my life. Maybe I’m just being silly, but that’s how I feel.
If it can’t be fixed, well, I guess I’ll just have to let it go. But I’ll keep it for a while, just in case. Maybe someday I’ll find someone who can bring it back to life. One can always hope, right?
Life’s like that sometimes, things break down, things change. Just gotta keep going, keep ticking along. Like that old watch used to do.
