So, you’re talkin’ about them fancy watches, the Audemars Piguet, and payin’ for it monthly in Singapore, huh? And on that Reddit thing from back in 2014? Well, lemme tell ya, I don’t know nothin’ about no Reddit, sounds like some kinda newfangled gadget to me. But watches, watches I know a little somethin’ ’bout.
See, my grandpappy, he had this old pocket watch. Kept it in his vest pocket, it did. Had a chain and everything. He used to say, “A good watch is like a good dog, loyal and true.” Now, that watch weren’t no fancy Audemars Piguet, mind you. Just a plain ol’ watch, but it kept time somethin’ fierce. He’d wind it every mornin’, careful like. Said it was the heart of the watch, you gotta keep it beatin’.
- Now, these Audemars Piguet watches, they’re probably real pretty, with all sorts of shiny bits and whatnots. But payin’ monthly for somethin’ like that? Seems a bit silly to me. If you can’t afford to buy it outright, maybe you shouldn’t be gettin’ it. That’s what my ma always said, “Don’t buy what you can’t pay for.” Good advice, that.
- And this Singapore place, I hear it’s real fancy too. All them tall buildings and such. Probably got watches for sale on every corner. But don’t let ’em fool ya with all that glitter. A watch is a watch, no matter how much it costs. It tells the time, that’s all.
Back in my day, you saved up for things. Wanted a new dress, you’d put a little money away each week. Wanted a new stove, you’d do the same. No credit cards or monthly payments back then. Just hard work and savin’ pennies. Maybe that’s why things lasted longer. People appreciated what they had, ’cause they earned it.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ you shouldn’t get yourself a nice watch if you want one. But don’t go puttin’ yourself in debt over it. There’s more important things in life than fancy watches. Like family and friends, good food on the table, and a roof over your head.
And remember, just ’cause somethin’ is expensive don’t mean it’s better. My grandpappy’s old pocket watch, it weren’t worth much in dollars and cents, but it was worth a fortune in memories. That’s somethin’ you can’t buy, no matter how much money you got.
So, you go on and think about it, dear. Is that Audemars Piguet watch really worth all that fuss and bother? Or is there somethin’ else you could spend your hard-earned money on that’ll bring you real happiness?
Just remember, time keeps on tickin’, no matter what kind of watch you got. Don’t waste it on things that don’t matter.
