Yeah, so, this AP thing, Audemars Piguet, you know, some fancy watch thing. Folks talk about it, say it’s special. I dunno, looks like a watch to me, tells the time, right?
They say it’s from some place in Switzerland, Joux Valley or somethin’. Fancy place, I bet. Been makin’ watches for ages, they say. This AP thing is one of the top three, like the big shots of watches. Must be somethin’ if they say so.
Got this funny shape, they call it octagonal, like a stop sign but not really. Got screws you can see, right there on the top. People said it was a bad thing back then, but now they like it. Go figure.
- They got this number thing on it, serial number, they say. Each watch got its own, like a fingerprint. Numbers and letters, all mixed up. Makes it special, I guess.
- This part inside, the movement they call it, it’s thin as paper, they say. Calibre 2120, somethin’ like that. Famous in the watch world, real famous. Took a bunch of folks to make it, back in ’67.
Then they made another one, 2121, added the date. And then 2120/2800, for all the fancy stuff watches do. Lots of numbers, hard to keep track.
People keep arguin’ about if it’s better than that Rolex thing. Like two dogs fightin’ over a bone. Some say AP is prettier, made better by hand. Others say Rolex is tough, lasts longer. I say, if you gotta fight about it, it ain’t worth it.
This family, they own AP, wantin’ all their stores to be just AP, nothin’ else. Got a bunch of stores already, but want more. Investin’ money, buyin’ out the other folks. Must be makin’ good money with these watches.
AP is just short for Audemars Piguet, like a nickname. Folks who love watches, they say AP all the time. Got different kinds of AP watches, Royal Oak, Royal Oak Offshore, Code 11.59, all sorts of names. Like different kinds of apples, all apples, but different names.
They sell these AP watches used too. Lots of ’em. Someone used it, then sold it. Still costs a ton of money, even used. Must be good if people still want it, even after someone else used it.
This one AP watch, got two balance wheels, all open so you can see inside. Costs a whole lotta money, like a house or somethin’. Crazy money for a watch, if you ask me. But hey, folks got money to spend, they can spend it on whatever they want.
So, that’s what I know about this AP thing. Fancy watch, lots of numbers, lots of talk. Tells the time, looks nice, costs a lot. If you got the money and like it, go for it. Me, I’ll stick to my old clock on the wall. Works just fine for me.
