Oh, this Watch Dogs 2 game on PS5, huh? My grandson, he talks about it all the time. Says it’s got this city, San Francisco, where you can just mess around. Like, real mess around. He says you’re this fella, a hacker, and you gotta use your phone and stuff to, like, break into things and cause trouble. Sounds like a lot of nonsense to me, but he seems to like it.
He showed me some trailer thingy. It was all flashy and noisy. Lots of young people running around, causing trouble. My grandson says that’s the fun part. He says the game is all about, you know, fighting against the system. Some big company that’s controlling everyone. Sounds like trouble if you ask me. But he says it’s just a game. I don’t know. Seems like a waste of time to me.
He says this Watch Dogs 2 is better than that other game, that GTA thing. Says it’s got more smarts to it. You gotta use your brain more. Not just shooting and stealing cars. Though he says there’s plenty of that too, if you want. He says you can hack into cars, traffic lights, all sorts of stuff. Sounds like magic to me. But he says it’s all, you know, technology.
He was going on and on about how real the city looks. San Francisco, he says. Never been there myself. He showed me some pictures. Looks like a busy place. Lots of hills. He says you can climb all over them in the game. Jump from rooftop to rooftop. Sounds dangerous. He says it’s just a game, grandma, don’t worry. But still, I worry.
- You play a hacker in San Francisco.
- You can mess with cars and traffic lights.
- It’s supposed to be better than GTA.
He also said something about the game being old, but they’re putting it on the PS5 now. Makes it look better, he says. Smoother. More real. I don’t know. Looks the same to me. Just more pixels, he says. Whatever that means. He’s always talking in those gamer words.
He says you can play for hours and hours. Doesn’t seem healthy to me. Sitting in front of that screen all day. But he says it’s fun. Says it’s an adventure. I suppose it’s better than running around outside getting into real trouble. Maybe.
There was something about a “season pass” he mentioned. Said you get extra stuff if you buy it. More clothes for your character, more missions. Sounds like a waste of money to me. But he says it’s worth it. Says it makes the game last longer. I don’t understand these kids.
They got these ratings too, he says. People give the game stars. Like they’re grading a school paper. He says everyone says it’s good. Five stars, whatever that means. He seems to believe them. Says it’s a “blast to play”. Loud noises, probably. Like fireworks.
He showed me some more pictures. People running around with guns. Cars crashing. Explosions. I told him it looked violent. He said it’s just a game, grandma. Nobody gets really hurt. I hope he’s right. These games, they seem so real these days.
I still don’t understand why he likes it so much. Running around, causing trouble. But he says it’s about freedom. Fighting against the bad guys. Making a difference. Maybe he’s right. Maybe there’s more to it than just flashing lights and loud noises. Maybe it’s about something important. But I still wish he’d go outside more.
